RULES:

- Contest is international open to amateur,novice,and professional, kids, youth, and adults.

Styles include: painting, photography, drawing, digital media, sculpture.

- Art must be submitted in the following format types: (jpg,jpeg,gif) and be less than 2MB

-All art being submitted must be original and belong to the art submitting it.

-Please be advised if background is viewable we will crop it to show only the artwork.

-All artwork being submitted must have been done in the last 4 years.

- You may enter as often as you like.

- All art will be placed on The Artistic Circle website for duration of contest, please allow time for artwork to be posted online.

- Top 3 winners will receive cash prize and be notified via e-mail.

- Places 4-14 will receive Honorable Mentions

- $10 per entry form.

- The Artistic Circle's decisions are final.

Fears & Phobias

Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA seeks entries for a juried art exhibition at Target Gallery, January - February 19, 2012.

Awards: $150.

A timely exhibition that explores the theme of fears and phobias. This work can be very introspective and personal, or express these issues in a larger social context. This is an all media exhibit open to all artists nationally and internationally.

Our juror for this exhibition is Lia Newman, Director of Programs and Exhibitions at Artspace in Raleigh, NC. Newman received degrees from Winthrop University in Art History and Studio, and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Duke University. She has extensive experience throughout the southeast as a curator, juror, and panelist. Her expertise spans all media with a special interest in art that addresses social and political issues.

Deadline: November 14, 2011.

$35 entry fee includes submission for 3 pieces of artwork - each work may include one image along with only one detail image per work.

The ReCREATE: H20 art exhibition will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening Center for Green Urbanism’s Tubman-Mahan Art Gallery in Washington, DC. The Gallery is part of the Center’s eco-friendly business incubator facility providing office space for small to mid-sized businesses and start-ups. The Center and Gallery is located in Ward 7 of northeast Washington, DC on the edge of Fort Mahan Park, a national park site and gateway to the Fort Circle Park Trail.

This year’s theme is: WATER. Water plays such an important role in our lives, encompassing social, economic, cultural, and environmental issues. Some ideas to think about are: How does water play a role in your life individually and on a global scale? How would you recreate your world to make it better? What would you change? How does your art express the vision of ReCreate and theme of water?

Baltimore - School 33 Art Center: Call for Artists

About the Exhibition: School 33 Art Center is now accepting submissions from artists for 2012 juried group exhibitions to take place January 13-March 3, 2012 and March 16-May 26, 2013.

The call for entry is open to artists working in any medium and is intended to present new work by emerging and established artists from the United States and abroad. The two exhibitions will be held in School 33 Art Center’s main gallery (1240 sq. ft.) for an eight-week period each.

Jurors will select 4 to 7 for each exhibit based on individual artistic merit. School 33 Art Center will produce all related press materials, feature the exhibit on our website; and (funding permitting) produce an exhibition catalog. Additionally School 33 will host an opening reception and encourages artists to participate in a gallery talk during the exhibition.

Eligibility Guidelines:

• Individual artists and collaborative teams working in any medium may apply.

• Employees of the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts are ineligible to apply.

• Artists are fully responsible for making all necessary arrangements for the delivery and pick-up of their artwork.

• Late and incomplete entries will not be considered.

Art Buzz, the book, is an annual, full-color, fine quality, large (10" x 10") format, hardcover publication that is scheduled for release in January of each year with a vigorous distribution plan targeted directly to the International Fine Art Community. Truly, this is a beautiful book, not a magazine. Each volume of Art Buzz will be available to order directly from Art Buzz and additional copies will be distributed directly to active art dealers and collectors in the United States and other parts of the world.

Deadline

All entries must be postmarked by September 30, 2011.

Eligibility

Open to all visual artists - worldwide - 18 years of age or older. All the various mediums will be accepted such as: painting (oils & acrylics, etc.), drawing, graphic art, photography (includes digital), mixed media, fiber, print making, sculpture, glass, metal, pottery, jewelry, etc. (Sorry, no video art) However, only one medium per entry form but as many images of your work, as you choose to submit, for that medium.

Digital Files on a CD

Digital artwork image files will be accepted on CD (NO DVDs please) and should be readable by a Macintosh computer** and named in conjunction with the actual artwork title. All images should be large enough to fill an 8"x 8" space and high resolution – 300dpi (not 72dpi) – jpeg or tiff file format. All jpegs should be saved at the highest quality. All artwork image files should represent your work accurately and honestly. The disc should be clearly labeled with the artist's name and number of images contained on the disc. Digital discs must be accompanied by a printed paper copy of the contents (including images) on the CD and labeled with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions for each artwork. This printed paper copy is required by the jury.

Artist Notification

All artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance via EMAIL. (If, for some reason, you do not have an email address, only the winning artists will be notified via US Mail or telephone.)

Entry Fee

The entry fee for three (3) slides (or transparencies), digital images or photographs, received after June 15, 2011 is $35.00. Artists that wish to enter more than three (3) art pieces may do so but they must include a check, with their submission package, for an additional $5.00 fee for each slide (or transparency), digital image or photograph over three (3). The entry fee can by paid via bank check or money order which must be in US Dollars and payable to Art Buzz. Artists can also choose to pay by credit card through PayPal which is very safe and secure. (three artwork image entries included when paying via PayPal) Just press the button below and print out your PayPal transaction receipt to include with your entry form and slides (or transparencies), digital images or photographs and mail entry package to Art Buzz. The Billboard Art Project

The Billboard Art Project is taking over roadside digital LED billboards to turn them into free public art venues for 24 hours or more.

Those in-your-face and colorful canvases that you see as you sit stuck in traffic are turned over to local and international artists for a little break from everyday advertising, presenting larger-than-life art in glowing colors.

Catch a glimpse from your car as you drive by, or hang out for awhile and watch the show with other artists and onlookers.

You won't know what is coming next as different artists explore this medium, with the electronic canvas morphing every 6-10 seconds.

In a series of abstract paintings, Anne Marchand explores a new vocabulary of color and texture in the swirling vortexes of nebulae and the surfaces of moons and planets, bringing these into her ongoing search for ways to approach mystic poetry through visual expression. In the show, "Of Shining Worlds: Recent Paintings by Anne Marchand," curator Claudia Rousseau highlights more than 30 paintings by Washington, DC based artist Anne Marchand. The exhibition brings together works inspired by images from the Hubble spacecraft that relate to the artists theme of interconnections. The show at the King Street Gallery, the Morris and Gwendolyn Foundation Arts Center, Montgomery College will open with an artist's reception, on Thursday, September 22, 6:00 - 8:00pm, and remain on display through October 19, 2011. The artist will comment on her work, followed by a poetry reading and live music on Thursday, September 29, 6:00 - 7:00pm.

The King Street Gallery is in the atrium of the Morris and Gwendolyn Foundation Arts Center on the west side of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. Parking is available in the West Garage which is located immediately behind the center.

Artists explore journey from darkroom photography to advent of digital image-making;

reveal narratives that photojournalism creates about distant global cultures

NORTH BETHESDA, MD – With Building Bridges, Not Fences, Strathmore explores the technical and conceptual journey of photography from traditional to digital media, through the reinvention of image-making through modern technology. This exhibition also ignites conversation about the aesthetic bridge that photojournalism builds between cultures as masters of the medium transcend borders through their work. The exhibition will be on view in the Mansion at Strathmore from September 24, 2011 to November 5, 2011. The first floor follows photography from darkroom to digital image-making with traditional black and white photographs by Bruce Barnbaum, digital photographs from Dean Kessmann and innovative digital compositions by Bruce McKaig. I guess it was predestined with a title like Water, Water, Anywhere and the advent of the hurricane season!!!

This is just a post so I can easily access my information for the various places I submit to.

As part of the upcoming art show for the Del Ray Artisans Get Sparked, I have created this newest piece loosely based on a poem by Amy Moffitt. I struggled with it for a little while, as I normally do not do religious compositions, but I think I created a beautiful piece that still encapsulates some of the imagery that inspired me from the poem.

I think the title reflects the over all feel of the piece very well. There are many revelations that can be taken from this piece. Whether it is a philosophical meaning, a religious denotation, or as with most of my pieces the revelation of some hidden images deep within the piece.

This artwork is available in several sizes at a limited quantity for each. So once they are sold out, they won't be made available again. Don't delay in ordering yours.

Artistic Blind Dates

Up to 9 artists from any discipline will be selected and teamed up in three groups of three for “artistic blind dates”. Five months later, they reveal what they’ve created and engage the audience in a dialogue about their artistic process. Artists will receive grants up to $250 per person. ELIGIBILITY

Applicants for the Full-Length Play Director positions, and for the Artistic Blind Dates must be residents of the greater Washington region defined as: Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia; Cities of Falls Church & Alexandria, and Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties in Virginia. Actors, designers, crew and playwrights submitting 10-Minute plays have no specific residency requirements—though it’s worth noting that the Festival does not provide travel or housing for participating artists.

SELECTION CRITERIA

When selecting Full-Length Play directors and Artistic Blind Date Participants, the Source Festival staff and Advisory Panel will consider application based upon the following criteria:

• Artistic merit of past work

• Innovation and originality of past work

Flashpoint Gallery open to contemporary artists, independent curators and arts organizations.

Flashpoint Gallery exhibits cutting-edge contemporary art and provides a springboard for the careers of talented artists and curators. Flashpoint Gallery presents inventive, original work from emerging and under-represented artists and curators.

Eligible artists include: contemporary artists, independent curators and arts organizations presenting work in any medium.

The process for applying is easier this year; we are breaking it down into two phases. The first phase will be a less intensive proposal including preliminary information about your exhibition. For the second phase, select artists will be asked to submit a more detailed proposal.

Gallery West is pleased to announce a call for entries for its 15th annual national juried show. The all media show will be juried by CD, awards to total $1000. It will be juried by Edward J. Reed. REQUIREMENTS

Open to all local or national artists 18+ years. Original fine art in any medium is acceptable. No videos or reproductions. Original 2-D/3D only. Works on paper 24” or larger in the long dimension must be framed behind plexiglas. Clip mounts will not be accepted. Works on canvas may be wrapped around stretchers if painting extends along the sides. Stretchers must be at least 1” deep. Work that is wet will not be accepted. Maximum framed size not to exceed 30” x 40” or 72ui. All two-dimensional works must be ready for hanging with hooks and wire .

ENTRY METHOD

Entry Fee is $35 for up to three works. Additional works, $10 each. Jurying will be from digital images. CD’s must belabeled with artist’s name (last name first), titles, and medium. Digital images should be 72 ppi, RGB jpeg format with maximum 600 pixels in any one dimension. File names should be artist’s last name followed by title. Example: JonesBlueSquares. Acceptance of any digital entry is contingent on seeing the real object.

SALES

All work must be for sale. Gallery West will retain a commission of 40%. Works may not be removed before the end of the exhibition.

Our most popular art show is back for its 3rd installment. In June 2010, 62 artists submitted over 600 piece of art–how many babies will we have this year?

All artwork must be done on a 2 inch by 3 inch canvas.

• Each artist must submit a minimum of 5 pieces.
• The registration fee for non-members is $25 and covers up to 25 pieces for submission.
• The online submission form must be received by October 27, 2011–all artwork must be delivered to The Soundry no later than November 1, 2011.
• The opening for the show is Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 7pm-10pm.

GRACE (Greater Reston Arts Center) is a non-profit arts center in Northern Virginia dedicated to presenting visual art that illuminates new ideas and promotes dialogue between artists and audience. The exhibition program offers artists from the mid-Atlantic region opportunities to experiment and expand their work in an open, contemporary space. Artists living or working in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia are invited to submit proposals.

The arts center is now accepting proposals for periods of approximately 4 – 6 weeks from November 2012 through September of 2013.

Six solo artists will be grouped into two Focus Exhibitions, each featuring three artists in separate areas of the gallery. Group exhibition proposals are also welcomed. The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities (DCCAH) is seeking to purchase two and three-dimensional works of art including, but not limited to, prints, drawings, mixed media compositions, paintings, photographs, ceramics, and moveable sculptures to be included in the Art Bank Collection. We also strongly encourage submissions by video artists and other technological innovators as we look to expand the Art Bank Collection to include more diverse and dynamic forms of contemporary art. Representational, conceptual, and abstract works will be equally considered.

This year, the Art Bank application process will be done entirely online. Please follow dcarts.slideroom.com to find the Art Bank 2011 Call to Artists. In order to access the application, all applicants will first be prompted to create a SlideRoom account, at no cost. Once logged into their new account, each applicant artist will be allowed to submit up to ten labeled images to be considered for acquisition into the Art Bank. All artwork submitted must be available for purchase upon submission and must be created with archival materials. Work shall not exceed 96” in any direction or 100lbs in weight.

In addition to ten images of prospective artwork,

a completed online application will include:

• An artist statement

• A current CV or resume

• An image list of all works submitted, in the order of submission

It's Personal - CHAL Call for Art

The theme or idea for the September show is "It's Personal". (And the Juror is being confirmed so you will receive a notice very soon on this.) Because the emphasis is on personal, please consider explaining how a piece is so personal. For all works selected to be in the show, artists can provide text up to 50 words long that will be included on the wall labels for each piece.

Just like last year, the Receiving will be conducted before Labor Day weekend so that we avoid the holiday weekend.

Receiving: Saturday and Monday August 27th and 29th 9:30-11:30am

The submission fees remain the same as well:

$5 for 1 piece, $8 for 2 pieces, $10 for 3 pieces

Non-members may submit to a juried show - $25 for up to 3 pieces.

Jurying: Tuesday September 6th 9:30-11:30am

Opening Reception: Saturday September 10th 5-7pm with the juror's remarks at 5:30pm

And don't forget - at this show the Wally Szyndler 3D Prize will be awarded. So don't shy away from entering that energetic and wild piece of sculpture that you felt was too personal.

1. Artwork submitted must be based on the theme of the cemetery, any cemetery, and any media. The name and/or location of the cemetery must be listed.

2. Artwork must be suitable for a family setting.

3. Artwork must be original, no copies or kits permitted.

4. Saw-tooth hangers, soiled or poorly matted works, wet canvasses, or damaged frames will not be accepted. Entries must be ready to hang and protected by glass or plexiglass where needed. Three dimensional work must be able to be handled by one person.

5. Works are hung at the risk of the artist; SAG and FCCPA will not be liable for work.

6. Artists are responsible for paying sales taxes. No commission will be taken.

7. The entry fee is $10 per work, 3 for $25, with a limit of three entries per artist. Entries must be received by SEPTEMBER 24, 2011.

This exhibit seeks works of art that use toys and children’s playthings as the inspiration, subject matter, and/or medium with the goal of creating playful, amusing, nostalgic, or poignant commentaries on the role of toys in our lives. We all hold fond memories of special toys that yielded hours of entertainment, and many of us can vividly remember when a treasured toy was lost, broken, stolen, or otherwise retired. For these reasons and more, toys can be a powerful art medium, conjuring up both treasured and difficult memories of childhood, past friendships, and other recollections.

From the utterly outrageous to the sappy and sentimental, this exhibit will include all media, small to large scale. The exhibit will be installed in the Main Gallery of the Arts Building, but a small number of outdoor works will be considered for the Sculpture Garden. Cash awards will be presented.

The exhibit will be up during Garden In Lights, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Art Center’s award-winning holiday light show. In the spirit of the holiday season, and with the thousands of families in mind who will visit during this festive time, the jury seeks works that are engaging, and fun, and above all, playful!

Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center is located in scenic Solomons, Maryland, where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay.

A lot of this art makes for great iPhone wallpapers. We’re always looking for cool art that could fit on our iPhone. Either way, we suggest checking out his work, there’s a lot of neat stuff. His work reminds us of a Pink Floyd album cover. He has some amazing stuff, and it’s all available on his website. Of course it’s all a bit more traditional, such as his framed canvas work. It’s all available on his website for viewing, and it’s worth checking out his work here.

The Franklin County Historical Society invites artists to enter their upcoming exhibition,

"My Favorite Things", to be held at the Old Jail, 175 East King Street in Chambersburg, from Sept.11 - Oct 8th, 2011, with an opening reception on Sunday, the 11th from 2-4 pm.

Works may be in any medium, but must be framed, hang-able with wire on the back, and "family friendly". Artists may deliver one work, Thursday or Friday, Sept. 8 & 9, between 10 am & 4 pm; entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Art work should be picked up Tuesday-Friday October 11-14, between 10 and 4.

The "My Favorite Things" exhibit will be held in conjunction with the Historical Society's "Death by Chocolate" event on Sept. 24, which will feature tastings of chocolate, specialty coffee's and tea's, and wine.

The gallery is located at 5179 Lee Highway near the intersection of Lee Highway and George Mason Drive and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am – 7 pm and closed on Sundays.

The cost is $300 for 6 months ($50 a month) for a wall space. There is no work commitment (except on evenings of receptions). There is no commission taken except if the buyer uses a credit card, then the bank fees are deducted.
