CALL FOR ENTRY
Annual Juried Exhibit: June 2 – July 22, 2012
Open to all artists living in the US. All mediums welcomed. Formerly known as the Regional Juried Exhibit, this exhibit has been renamed the Annual Juried Exhibit. There are no geographic limits to who may participate.
Juror: Sue Spaid, Executive Director, Contemporary Museum, Baltimore, Maryland.
Since 1984, Spaid has lived in New York City, LA, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia where she has been active in the art world as a collector, art writer, curator, and adjunct professor. As an independent curator, Spaid has organized over 50 exhibitions for artist-run spaces, university galleries, commercial galleries, and museums. A member of the artUS Contributors Board, Spaid has written regularly for ArtText, Art in America, LA Weekly, Village Voice, and New Art Examiner.
Entry Guidelines:
Applicants may submit up to three works of art. For each piece submitted, we require one digital image of the whole piece, and allow up to two detail images per piece. 9 digital images per proposal max. Submissions must be in JPEG format on a CD. CDs will not be returned.
Formatting the CD:
- Write artist’s last name, email address or phone number on the CD with a permanent marker.
- Save images as separate jpegs at 72 dpi (please do not send large files.)
- Title each submission using the first four letters of the artist’s last name and number each entry 1 – 3. (e.g. for an artist whose last name is Colby, submission titles should read colb1, colb2, colb3.)
- Up to two additional detail images are allowed and must be titled along with image number (colb1det.)
- In a document (Word is preferred) include:
Artist’s nameApplication fee (non-refundable): $30 ($25/members.) Please write AJE in the memo line of your check.
Mailing address, phone, and email
Submission titles, media, dimensions, and year completed. (For example: Colb1: Lunar Landscape, oil on canvas, 24 x 30 inches, 2011)
Optional: A brief written narrative may be helpful for 3-dimensional work and should be included on the CD.
There should be no paper documents accompanying the CD.
Postmark Deadline for Entries: May 7, 2012 (hand delivered entries must arrive by 5:00 p.m.)
Announcement of Accepted Works:
A list of selected works will be posted on the Annual Juried Exhibit page on our website at www.delaplaine.org. Selected works will also be announced on Facebook. Additionally, a phone message announcing ACCEPTED work will be available after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Call 301-698-0656, press 7 during the main greeting, and follow the phone directions to listen to the list of ACCEPTED work.
