The Wave Information

The Wave
12" w X 12" h X 1.5" d
Museum Quality Canvas Wrap
$180.00

The Wave was created as an album cover for a local Virginia band, staticVoid, back in 2005. The band members have since gone their separate ways though. The artwork takes it visuals from several narrative elements in the song it is inspired from, such as "floating on a wind" and "chase the cresting wave". I thought it would be interesting to juxtapose those ideas. If you look closely you can see the clouds are above the Earth and you can make out land masses in the bottom left hand corner. As with my of my works I have hidden several elements throughout the composition as well. Look carefully at the shadow shapes in the wave and the clouds.

You can download the song this piece is inspired from HERE. (MP3 Download)

The Wave

I know, I know, I know, I know
See the distance of the space between the two of you
Praise your hopes, chase your thoughts
Almost sure that certain image that I fought is gone
- Is gone

Don't know where and don't know how
See the path you take, see the lives you break
Don't be the one to set the courses of my life
I take it all in stride,
I ride this painful tide

Broken walls and broken dreams
I tear your heart and soul, an end to all its means
Capture breath and solemn prayer
Look with blindness, eternal stares

Don't know where and don't know how
See the path you take, see the lives you break
Don't be the one to set the courses of my life
I take it all in stride,
I ride this painful tide
Out to sea

I'm floating on a wind
I'm leaning on a friend
I'll be me

The rights I defend
The fighting I attend –WAIT

Don't chase that cresting wave
See the falling tears in you

I follow the road you pave
To it's end and ride the wave

Don't know where and don't know how
See the path you take, see the lives you break
Don't be the one to set the courses of my life
I take it all in stride,
I ride this painful tide
Out to sea

I'm floating on a wind
I'm leaning on a friend
I'll be me

The rights I defend
The fighting I attend – wait
